Hunt #9 Debrief - Auckland

Midwinter Expedition
Hunt #9 Debrief - Auckland
Coin was not found

I was kinda hoping for a little interest mid-week, mostly because it was the school holidays and all, but perhaps it was the weather that won the day. There were definitely people playing along at work, but no-one around to claim the coin for themselves. Oh well, better luck next time.

The Clues - Solutions and Explanations
#TheHuntAKL Clue 1 » If you've driven to the suburb of N× you've made it to the NE corner of today's search zone.
"N×" is just another way of saying the suburb of Northcross.
#TheHuntAKL Clue 2 » Probably best to take the Northern Express.
The Northern Express is a bus service that travels along the busway on the North Shore. Quite obviously, the coin was hidden up there too.
#TheHuntAKL Clue 3 » Maybe the coin's not in Auckland… maybe it's in Upstate New York…?
Albany is both a suburb of the North Shore, and a city in Upstate New York.
#TheHuntAKL Clue 4 » If I wasn't busy, I could go upstairs and hear @SethMacFarlane, @TheLewisBlack or @mindykaling multiple times today.
The three actors mentioned provide voices for two films currently being screened: Ted 2 and Inside Out. Event Cinemas was nearby.
#TheHuntAKL Clue 5 » It's lunchtime! Here's your picture clue! ow.ly/i/bP7Nl
#TheHuntAKL Clue 6 » It's that time again: the emoji clue!
This clue described a trip along Mercari Way and through Westfield Albany.
Here's how you translate this emoji clue: "As you walk in a straight line, you go from Subway, to a roundabout, a parking lot,  heading inside, past a police car (there was a police open exhibition on that day for the kids), gift shops, a food court, and a cinema. Go outside, and down to the lake."
#TheHuntAKL Clue 7 » Start from a metal sapling, and walk down to the water. Stop before you cross the bridge.
This clue repeated the last bit of the emoji clue for a bit more clarity. The Sapling is a kinetic sculpture by Grant Williams. It stands outside Westfield Albany, near the exit by the bus stops.
#TheHuntAKL Clue 8 » This artifical landmark was Walkway of the Month for May 2011.
Oops... spelling mistake. Auckland Council's Walkway of the Month was awarded to the Albany Lakes Civic Park.
#TheHuntAKL Clue 9 » Start line of an annual 10km run.
The annual Albany Lakes Summer Series starts on the Art Bridge. The Grand Finale course even gets to go through the mall, and the nearby stadium as part of a lap!

Answer - The Coin's Location
As always, the final clue will always tell you exactly where the coin is. For this hunt, the coin was hidden by the Art Bridge at Albany Lakes Civic Park.

No winners this time... a bit of a shame.

Unused Clues
In the hunt writing process, some clues get scrapped because they didn't fit in with the rest, were too vague, too difficult, or for other reasons. Here are the clues that didn't make the cut:
» I'm mere minutes away from where 2 lots of 11 finally made 3 over 120 last month.
This clue is describing the Final of the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which was held at the North Harbour Stadium.

Upcoming Hunts
We've just had a successful in Wellington on Saturday (debrief to come), and we've got two more hunts to go before the end of the month! So let's try to turn this expedition around!
We're in Christchurch on Saturday, and Palmerston North next Tuesday.
So let your friends know, and make sure you're following @hunt_clues on Twitter to be among the first to know what I'm up to, and if a hunt is happening in your area!

So long for now.
